Lorenzo Romar’s Life in Compton 

Romar has grown up in one of the harshest societies, no doubt. The young Romar used to live in the areas of gang members of Compton, California.

Compton is one of America’s most populous cities where Romar and his brother grew up. Street gangs are widespread, including organized crime and extreme poverty.

However, the allure of street life for young people growing up in Compton was resisted by Romar.

“There are neighborhoods, and everybody has front yards and back yards, but it’s kind of wild there.”

“You think it’s a nice place, but it’s not as nice as it looks, cause ‘i’ve lived with them, lived with gang members, and learned how to co-exist with them without handing over their souls.”

In Compton, Romar lived with his parents, Davis and Dorothy, where his father used to work as a welder, and his mother was a thermostat company supervisor.

Nevertheless, Romar Lorenzo has a brother named Wayne Romar. He had completed his high school education at Saint Pius.

After school, he had joined Cerritos College in 1976. But after two years, he left Cerritos and started playing and studying at the University Of Washington.
